Jamie posted on Facebook, “For better or for worse we have put our minds bodies and souls into the writing and recording of Suicide Songs. This one was written at a low moment, after a week trying to destroy myself in the pubs in Manchester, travelling back into the practice room almost in tears to write it. It just came out. We play The Ritz, Friday April 22nd. Tears and semen shall be shed! In celebration of our time in the city as well as a farewell to awful times I hope you never have to know.”

Critical acclaim for Suicide Songs, out now on Bella Union:
“A wide-eyed rock’n’roll shaman, Jamie Lee sings like a man trying to change the universe through sheer force of will, while the music – a pared-back yet epic-minded take on Spiritualized and Arcade Fire – grows around him like a gathering storm. Far from being a downer, these songs are frequently sublime.” Q – 4 Stars ****
“MONEY’s second album Suicide Songs balances desperation against salvation. Vocalist/lyricist Jamie Lee’s grand statements on the fine line between the gutter and redemption echo Ian Brown’s proclamation I Am The Resurrection on their opening track I Am The Lord, but what comes through musically is the stateliness of The Verve.” MOJO – 4 Stars ****
“Superior epic indie… Opener I Am The Lord has an Eastern raga mood, the excellent All My Life is like a gospel New Order, while Night Came swirls like a psychedelic Radiohead. Strings and horns embellish the downbeat tone magnificently.” Uncut – 8/10
“The sound is vast, yet ornate and pretty: a supersized cross between Spritualized and Echo and the Bunnymen at their most orchestral… A glorious cry from the heart that delivers a real emotional wallop.” The Guardian – 4 Stars ****
“Haunting and impressive.” NME – 8/10
“An ambitious album that recalls the orchestration of The Verve and poetry of Elbow… Despite the title, its ultimately an uplifting experience, and a triumphant comeback.”
Evening Standard – 4 Stars ****
“A transcendent album… Songs that live in the same inspirational world as the best moments of the Verve or Echo & the Bunnymen, an even touch the hem of Van Morrison’s coat. It stares death in the face and bursts with life.” SundayTimes
“MONEY’s ambition and reach ring out loudly… An album of ragged glories, bruised but unbroken.” IndependentOn Sunday – 4 Stars ****
“A beautiful soundtrack… Lee’s vibrato is reminiscent of Nick Drake or Conor Oberst… The place it’s coming from is a dark one but Suicide Songs offers a flickering candle.”
Metro – 4 Stars ****
“Hypnotically stirring… The troubled mental state of the band while making the album feed into the music to emotionally bleak but impressive effect.” The Mirror – 4 Stars ****
