RADKEY RELEASE INCREDIBLE NEW FACE-MELTING CLAYMATION VIDEO FOR ‘GLORE’!

UK TOUR DATES INCOMING OCTOBER / NOVEMBER

It took ten weeks of seriously hard work from Blinkink to complete Radkey’s incredible new two minute Claymation video for Glore. Their psychedelic, mind-bending, face-melting claymation trip morphs the world of what Radkey love and hate, alongside too many NSFC (Not Safe For Children) scenes to count, and using a variety of Claymation techniques heavily influenced by pioneers such as Bruce Bickford and David Daniels.

Directed by Nicos Livesey for Channel 4’s revised Random Acts strand, the Glore video that will be coming to our TV screens soon, is made up of a combination of influences from Celebrity Death Match, to Jackass and Beavis and Butthead with Radkey’s unique, 100 mph raging hardcore as the soundtrack.

Glore is a track which will make you “wanna run around drinking beer and throwing up Haribo” according to Livesey, so he thought he’d better visualise that feeling for the video… and oh man does it have that vibe!

The production process started with Nicos carefully thinking about social normalcy, copyright and morality …and then throwing it all out the window and starting his animatic. With ‘claysplotation artist’ Lee Hardcastle on board and working as an animation tag-team, they started some of the simpler shots until the need to fit more into a day drove them to setting up a second shooting bay, shortly followed by a third and three more animators by week eight.

Meanwhile, interns came in and out of the workshop staying anything from three days to nearly dropping dead seven weeks in… surviving mainly on a diet of courgettes. 49 to be precise.

PRODUCTION FACTS:

The 2 min 7 sec film took…

● 10 weeks start to finish
● 5 stop-motion animators
● cruising through 10-12 hour days
● the lives of 18 interns
● 2 x five AM starts
● 2 x five AM finishes
● 1 all nighter
● 435 bars of clay (which weighs as much as this man is deadlifting)
● 2 bottles of factor 50 kids suncream
● …and miraculously only 1 trip to the pub

Radkey will be heading back to the UK this month to play tracks from their new album Dark Black Makeup released back in August on Little Man Records. Head to http://radkey.net for tickets and order the album from http://smarturl.it/RadkeyiTunes.
