Earthy, sensual…you’ve heard these sounds before, but never quite like this” – Pitchfork

The perfect soundtrack for laying in the grass and watching clouds pass – simply stunning”Stereogum

Moses Sumney has emerged in the past year as an independent artist to watch, riding a wave of word-of-mouth praise based on hushed recordings and dynamic live performances. Recorded with an 80s 4-track cassette recorder on loan from Dave Sitek, his stunning debut EP “Mid City Island” quietly went on to win praise from the likes of Spin, Stereogum and support slots with forebears like Beck and Karen O, while this summer has already seen his star shine even brighter with the release of his new 7” single “Seeds” on Terrible Records. Possessed of an almost unearthly beauty and phosphorescent ambience, “Seeds” consolidates Sumney’s position as one of the most unusual new talents on the musical landscape right now, rightfully earning him comparisons to the likes of Sufjan Stevens and Grizzly Bear.

The coming weeks will also offer Londoners a few special opportunities to see Sumney cast his inimitable spell onstage. Firstly, Sumney will headline his own one-off show, downstairs at the Ace Hotel on August 18th, for what will surely prove to be an utterly exquisite and memorable gig. A few days later, on the 20th, Sumney will perform as part of the all-star cast joining David Byrne at Meltdown Festival as part of the “Never Mind William Onyeabor: Here’s Atomic Bomb!” extravaganza, wherein the likes of Alexis Taylor, Amadaou and Mariam and Sinkane among others play the music of eccentric African music pioneer William Onyeabor for one night only. Make sure you do not miss out.
