That’s right guys, only 2 sleeps away  until you  can all enjoy  setting up your tents at this year’s 2000 trees festival. For the last few weeks, in the lead up to one of the most renowned UK independent festival’s opening those gates again, we’ve been chatting to a handful of artists performing at this years 2000trees festival based in Cheltenham. We’ve asked artists to shed light on their festival experiences, what they plan to give to the audience at this years event and who they’re looking forward to catching live.

2000 trees festival will  shortly commence for its 9th year. To coincide with the fast approaching July dates, from now up until the day before the fun begins, we are continuing to host a special 2000 trees Artist Feature. Taking a closer look at some of the talent playing and introducing our readers to a handful of acts in a more personal manor; as we talk to the musicians to find out about their musical endeavours, their live sets and what we can look forward to from them on the day, as well as their top artist to see at trees.

Continuing the festival feature, we’ve had the pleasure in chatting to a band we’ve been heavily promoting, we are extremely excited to catch another live set from psyche-pop-grunge act Allusondrugs. Allusondrugs formed in 2012 in West Yorkshire when Jason Moules (Vocals), Drey Pavlovic (Guitar), Damo Hughes (Guitar/Vocals/Effects), Jemal Malki (Bass) and Connor Fisher-Atack (Drums) came together after meeting on the Leeds music scene. Influenced by Nirvana, Deftones, My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth and known for their blisteringly intense guitar rock sound, the band have attracted national press attention and a huge following of fans who are drawn to their captivating live performances.

We spoke to Damian Hughes of Allusondrugs to find out more about the bands festival set which is just sleeps away!

Please introduce yourselves and your role within the band- How long have you been playing and performing live?

I sing and plays guitar, Jason sings, Drey plays guitar, Jemal plays bass and Connor plays drums

How did you form and where did the name come from?

We’ve all been in bands separately for years trying to get something going, we never found the right mix of people until we all came together at a pub one night in West Yorkshire about 2 and a half years ago and decided to make a go of it. The name was decided on that night by accident. At first it was just a silly little name that we thought was funny but has since become much more than that. We now use it as a commentary on how people’s minds are clouded by non important things like social media and celebrity culture making them distracted from proper issues like the fact that we’re being controlled by the rich and that women get treated like property.

What can we look forward to from your live performance during this years highly anticipated festival?

Loud music, lots of hair, my purple velvet jacket and Jason’s 4 nipples.

What do you think you each bring to your live performances, sell your showmanship, sell us your sets.

If each of of us bring our equipment then everything is going to be fine.

What is it that you personally get from your performance?

Paid.

How would you describe the reception to your presence?

A lot of people really like us, a lot of people hate us. People have taken a dislike to us in the past for a lot of silly reasons.

How would you personally describe your own sound in one word?

Oursoundiscomprisedofnumberofinfluencesfrombothpastandpresentthatwehaveconsumedandrunthroughthemachineandspatbackoutinaneatlittlepackageforyoutothenreconsumeandrepeattheprocessalloveragain

Is there a particular track that you just love to play?

All of them. We get more enjoyment from playing newer songs.

Is there an artist you can’t wait to see at the festival, if so why?

There are too many to mention.

Is this your first 2000trees experience?

It is.

What else are you looking forward to from this years event?

Meeting new people, hanging our with friends from past gigs and tours, hopefully finding my new favourite band.

What makes a festival special to you?

Catering

Give us some festival advice- what one thing would you urge everyone to bring with them for this weekend?

Their manners

Enlighten us to what can we look forward to from you in the future- many other plans set for the rest of this year, be it touring, recording, releasing etc?

We’re doing a single with the Beggars Banquet Too Pure Singles Club which will be out in September. We’ve got festivals for the rest of the summer and we have a lot of new material in the works.

And Finally any last words from you?

I wish there were more women playing this year

Thanks for the time and we can’t wait to see you live! Enjoy the festival.

This is the penultimate feature and you can expect one more artist interview to follow but what are you waiting for. Thursday is quickly approaching, there is a small number of tickets left so if you’ve not got yours yet then don’t delay. See you Thursday!
