BULLY unveil video for ‘TRYING”
Debut album ‘FEELS LIKE’ out June 22nd

The last few months has seen Nashville four-piece Bully slowly but surely become the band to watch on everyone’s lips, and after a triumphant showing at SXSW this year which won over the likes of NME, NPR, Pitchfork and more, the buzz has only intensified.

Now, the band are prepping their hotly anticipated debut LP “Feels Like” for release on June 22nd on Sony, a blistering, instantly infectious collection of 10 searing power punk tracks that will more than justify all the hype swirling around the band at the moment. Mixed, recorded and mastered by frontwoman powerhouse (and former intern to Steve Albini) Alicia Bognanno, it masterfully evokes 90s mainstays such as The Breeders, Afghan Whigs or Hole while at the same time bringing the band’s own unique twists to its addictive grunge rock melodies.

A deeply personal album by an artist bravely mining her own life, “Feels Like” is all about trying to figure yourself out—about holding yourself accountable and acting like an adult in a society that doesn’t offer very many good examples. It’s a coming-of-age album, which only makes Bognanno more relatable. “Sometimes I wonder if people think I’m a complete mess,” she says. “It’s not easy to put yourself out there like, but it’s true. Everyone goes through shit like that.”

You might already have fallen for the raucous charms of the self-released EP last year, but “Feels Like” tightens and refines these sensibilities to a knife-edge, transforming familiar alt.rock shapes into smart millennial indie music, full of churning guitars, rambunctious rhythms and tightly coiled intensity. “Feels Like” sounds alternately like a balled fist and a fresh bruise, encapsulated perfectly by the new track “Trying”. Although racked with anxiety over missed periods, mounting debt and self-doubt, Bognanno rallies all her strength for the formidable chorus, in which she screams she’s “trying all the time” over a soaring guitar hook. Alternately anguished and defiant, corrosive yet immediately tuneful, it showcases Bully’s considerable strengths to the max. Make sure you don’t miss their incendiary debut UK live shows when they hit the shores next month, including a headline London date at the Lexington on May 7th.

Bully are Alicia Bognanno on guitar and vocals, Stewart Copeland on drums, Clayton Parker on guitar and Reece Lazarus on bass.
