The Kut are quite simply a great British rock group. Three ladies, armed with a snarl and a smile delivering the sort of pent up rock n roll that helped Nirvana take over the world in the 90s. Forthcoming EP, ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ is an extraordinary follow up to 2014’s ‘Make Up’ EP, also produced by James LeRock Loughrey (Skindred, White Zombie, Def Leppard). Lead vocalist Maha postulated that Rock Paper Scissors “probably has the closest resemblance to the material we’ve been playing out on the live sets this last year.” Boy does it show, this is rip-roaring live sounding female angst at a time when it feels particularly relevant.
The debut single from the EP ‘I Want You Maniac’ had already been playlisted at MTV and supported by Scuzz TV, Planet Rock, BBC Introducing and Jim Gellatly’s New Music Showcase, Club NME and Medication to name a few. Inspired by the likes of Deftones, L7, Hole, Incubus, Tool, Placebo, Nirvana, Faith No More, The Kut have really found their sound as they mash their rock styles into their own brand of basement rock. With shows under their belt including Olympics 2012 and 15 festivals in 2014, this year will see the band continuing to tour their new material across the UK in support of the EP. With the likes of rock heroes Dave Navarro and Shirley Manson showing support, it’s time you discovered The Kut too.
The ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ EP is due for release on Monday 20th April, with signed CDs and downloads available to pre-order as well as listen in full here: http://thekut.bandcamp.com
