INTERPOL, ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS, UNDERWORLD, THE REPLACEMENTS, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, BELLE & SEBASTIAN AND CARIBOU ARE PART OF THE SOLID LINE-UP FOR THE FOURTH EDITION OF NOS PRIMAVERA SOUND
NOS Primavera Sound has just put forward the complete line-up for its fourth edition. After announcing Patti Smith’s presence, interpreting in full her iconic work “Horses”, and the return to the stages of the cult band Ride, the festival reveals the names that will visit the Parque da Cidade between the 4th and 6th of June.
Among the confirmed artists, highlights are New Yorkers Interpol, the exclusive Antony and the Johnsons performance, british band Underworld unleashing “dubnobasswithmyheadman” and the veteran Minneapolis band The Replacements. Remarkable current bands such as Run The Jewels, authors of one of 2014’s best records, the subtle R&B of FKA twigs, Scots Belle & Sebastian with a new album in tow, Dan Snaith’s project Caribou, the mythical industrial rock band Einstürzende Neubaten, led by Blixa Bargeld, and americans Death Cab for Cutie will perform in the Portuguese city.
Damien Rice’s pop sensibility, Jason Pierce’s hypnotic rock vision aboard Spiritualized, the exuberant and histrionic Mac DeMarco and the Portuguese-brazilian Banda do Mar, where Marcelo Camelo’s and Mallu Magalhães’s talents converge, are names that also stand out from the line-up of the next NOS Primavera Sound. Also bold Foxygen, former Sonic Youth front-man Thurston Moore, the vitaminic pop of Canadians The New Pornographers, the simplicity in the songs of José González, the irresistible electronic funk of newcomers JUNGLE and the beloved Portuguese Manel Cruz are some of the offers that brighten up the line-up.
With a vast and diverse programming, Parque da Cidade will also vibrate with the guitars of Electric Wizard, Pallbearer, Shellac, HEALTH or the newly reunited Babes in Toyland; the electronic of Juan MacLean (live), Roman Flügel and Marc Piñol; artists with contrasting careers such as Sun Kil Moon, Giant Sand, Dan Deacon and Baxter Dury; current blazing offers such as Movement, Ex Hex, Ought and Viet Cong.
The extensive list also showcases names like Kevin Morby (former The Babies), the multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Bruno Pernadas, the experimentalism of Pharmakon and The KVB, the kiwi pop of Twerps, the rounded guitars of Mikal Cronin, Xylouris White (the union of Dirty Three’s Jim White’s drums and George Xylouris’s lute), the eclectic sounds of Lebanese Yasmine Hamdan, British band Younghusband, affiliated with the ATP label.
