As the countdown to the end of 2014 quickly approaches we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. Circuit Sweet will be featuring the featured artists of the site with their personal top 5 releases of the year.

In our end of year special we let our favorites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists, their favorite events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.

The next traditional take-over comes for a quartet who have had one of the most monumental band years to date. Cardiff based Samoans have toured extensively, released a flawless debut album and been nominated for a prestigious Welsh Music Prize. Since forming in 2008 the band have gone from strength to strength and soon established themselves as one of Wales’ up and coming talents, duly noted in the recent nomination. Blending a broad mixture of influences and composing a set of genre jumping, intense, melodic songs. Think Biffy Clyro meets Manic Street Preachers with a math rock blend of Maps and Atlases. We’ve had the pleasure in catching Samoans perform live at various venues this past year and we are hooked. Guitarist/Vocalist Daniel tells us more..

Top 5 releases of the year:
