The next band take over comes from the ridiculously talented trio Alright The CaptainThe 3 piece instrumental math rock post rockers consist of Marty Toner on Guitar, Todd Wood on Bass and drummer Jamie Cattermole. When the trio aren’t touring hard, they are producing more complex, more mature compositions yet still exploring their mathy jazz core roots. With the new album set for release in February 2015 after being successfully crowdfunded via Kickstarter in just 12 days it also marks the first release with Jamie Cattermole on drums. We cannot wait for this album to be released but until then we hand over to the lovely Marty to find out his top albums of the year and why..

Top 5 releases of the year

Swans – To be kind

Swans_To_Be_Kind

This was a record i took a gamble on and fell in love with after being recommended it by a few friends who definitely weren’t wrong about it at all.

Foxing – The Albatross

I first heard “Rory” randomly on daytime radio early in the year and had to find out more about this band so immediately went home and bought the album which has been on my record player all year.

Cleft – Bosh!

cleft-bosh

Good lads making great music, this albums just full of deadly tunes. Check it out! Enough said really!

Shellac – Dude incredible

17104-dude-incredible

I was a bit of a late comer to this album as i didn’t even realise it had been released for a long time but its shellac just doing what shellac do best.

A Plastic Rose – Autumn eases you into the dark

When the APR boys moved to Nottingham party times seemed to be more and more frequent, to the point that when i got home from our Euro tour in April wirh the worst post tour blues i’ve ever had i immediately jumped at the chance to join the lads crew on their UK tour which led to me drunkenly breaking both my wrists on day one but continued the tour and got to hear most of their forthcoming album along he way. This track was one of the singles from it and will always bring back some awesome memories from 2014.

The best show you have played this year

Don benito in Spain was one of my favourite shows this year. We’d heard so many good things about it before we arrived that it seemed too good to be true but sure enough It was exactly as had been described with the venue packed full of enthusiastic music lovers ready for a good night. We had an absolute blast and the party kept going all night with the locals, only stopping when it was time to leave for our next destination.

The best gig you have attended

Slint at the brudenell social club , they were absolutely flawless and i never ever thought i’d get to see them live so it was just an amazing night!

Highlights of your year

Our Kickstarter being successfully funded was obviously a big one as we’d finished recording the album and couldnt believe how quickly we hit our target to make the physical release possible and cant thank everyone who pledged enough, We always have the best time on tour so going to Spain for the first time with exxasens was a whole new adventure for us which we loved, our UK tour back in July with Mannheim was alot of fun and we can’t forget our European tour with the wonderful Cheap Jazz back in April which included a VS set at Dunk Festival.

Artist/Band to watch for 2015

Bear Makes Ninja are gonna smash it. Keep an eye on them and expect a new album in the new year.

Plans for the New Year

We’ll be ringing the new year in playing a house party then we’re releasing our new album “Contact Fix” on the 2nd Feb which we’re really excited about so we’ll be touring as much as we can all over the UK and Europe including a slot at Aloud Music Festival in Barcelona in March along with some amazing bands including Cleft and Mannheim.
Hopefully we’ll play alot more festivals over the summer too and we’ve already started writing for album number three so 2015 is looking pretty busy so far, just the way we like it 🙂

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year x

Thank you Marty and the boys. We love ATC, the band are touring extensively next year to promote their new album ‘Contact Fix’ find them on all social media networks and keep up to date for when they’re playing near you- must see live act.
