At The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music back in 2012, Chris Pruden (Keyboards/Synths), Matt Fong (Bass/Guitar) and Greg Harrison’s (Drums/Electronics) shared passion for electronic music and live exploration brought about the foundation of a new instrumental music project called Falcon Punch.

Through experimentation and reverse engineering, the trio soon developed a dynamic and progressive joint sound, combining jazz, experimentation and live electronica in their first full-length. Now, two years on from the raw sounds of their striking debut, Falcon Punch now return with their shattering and expertly honed follow-up EP.

Recorded in Montreal with Denis Martin within a 14-hour window, Show Me Your Moves captures the band’s both eclectic and collaborative songwriting dynamic. The EP, realized almost entirely through studio-based composition, forces the listener through flashes of subtle synth tones, driving bass, aggressive percussion and calculated instrumentalism. And with inventive nods to EDM, math-rock, jazz, ambience, progressive-rock and experimental music, Show Me Your Moves is an outstanding instrumental feat and an effortless listen for fans of Three Trapped Tigers, Tortoise, Holy Fuck, The Physics House Band, Vessels, and even Aphex Twin.

Falcon Punch’s 5-track EP, Show Me Your Moves, is available as a digital download and CD via London’s Blood & Biscuits.

“The old album was really fun but definitely unfocused. Back then the songs were mostly written individually and adapted to the trio setting. On the new EP more work was put into writing and approaching everything together. The result includes compromises but the sound is stronger and more defined as a band.” – Chris Pruden (Keyboard/Synths)
