About Future Ghosts:

There has always been two different writing approaches for musicians — writing pop songs with the sole purpose of making one feel good and captivating the heart, and/or writing songs that are progressive and push the boundaries of what is possible in a specific genre. A big challenge is to integrate both styles and write hit songs that reach new levels to move a sound forward without being generic. With Future Ghosts’ new album ‘Colorado,’ the group has done just that. They have created an album that fuses the sounds of Switchfoot, Foo Fighters and Jimmy Eat World with the progressive genre-pushing of groups like Brand New, The Dear Hunter and Manchester Orchestra. They’ve included the most brilliant of all pop-rock influences that also bridges the gap between the two theories, making everyone happy!

The Greensboro, North Carolina group’s debut album ‘Colorado’ holds a maturity that is uncommon for having only released a single EP since the group formed in 2010. Through narrowing down a mass of 33 demos, the 12 songs that make up the album were chosen. Future Ghosts headed to New York City to record at the esteemed Cannon Found Soundation Recording Studios (Man Overboard, Basement, Transit) under producer Jesse Cannon (The Cure, Saves The Day, The Menzingers). After working very long hours for several weeks, they emerged with an album that holds a variety of different moods, which all fit into the concise trip that ‘Colorado’ takes the listener on.

The album begins with the spirited “Crush,” which showcases honest lyrics along with a happy-yet-dark hard rock sound. The group leads right into radio-ready singles like the hard-hitting “Traps,” the upbeat anthem “Parasite Lost,” and the moody rock of “Bitter? Better.” The album puts the listener on the aural journey of hooks that call out to a depth of influences rarely seen by a group with such a brief discography. Having spent 2011 and 2012 touring and performing in cities all across the nation, they aim to push harder. The new album ‘Colorado’ takes a bold stride in the right direction.
