DISCO-PUNK NEWCOMERS EYES LIPS EYES ‘WHAT YOU WANT (IF YOU WANT)’ EP OUT NOW! NATIONWIDE FALL TOUR DATES CONFIRMED!‏

August 25, 2012

“[Eyes Lips Eyes] sound like the B-52s had a few frozen drinks and played spin the bottle with The Rapture and then crashed James Murphy’s DJ set on the S.S. Coachella.” –MTV

The brand new EP from Los Angeles-by-way-of-Utah foursome Eyes Lips Eyes is out today via Roll Call Records! The 4-song What You Want (If You Want) EP has earned the newcomers acclaim, with MTV declaring it “A wild indie rock dance party…It’s kinda nice to hear an indie act that trades in too-cool-for-school seriousness for hand claps and a sick bass line.” The EP is available to purchase on iTunes, and is streaming in its entirety at Spinner.com and Paste Magazine, with the latter stating “it’s music you can dance to…an energetic combination of pop, rock and dance.”

Earlier this summer, the band unveiled a track from the EP, “Don’t Blow It,” with Spinner.com, who proclaims, “Eyes Lips Eyes are going to make your day. It’s like LCD Soundsystem and Talking Heads had a baby.” Similarly, the band recently partnered with music aggregator We Are Hunted to launch a free download of their hit song “Tickle.” This fall, Eyes Lips Eyes will crisscross the nation on an extensive fall tour that includes stops in Los Angeles, Austin, New Orleans, Atlanta, New York and Boston. See below for details and stay tuned for additional dates coming in November!

Co-produced by the band alongside John Goodmanson (Death Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf) and mixed by Mike Roskelly (Kaskade), the 4-song release features upbeat, hook-laden songs that recall late seventies post-punk mixed with the unbridled night out energy of The Strokes. A full-length album is in the works for release early next year.

Eyes Lips Eyes has been building a steady following since their debut project Blue Red – an ambitious year-long project that saw them self-releasing a song and correlating video every month for 12 months. The release earned them acclaim from the likes of Filter, Buzzbands.LA, and CNN, with the latter naming them one of their “Artists to Watch” at this year’s SXSW.

The foursome was originally forged in the midst of Provo’s dance party scene, which shaped their live show into the high-energy, garbage can-banging performances they have become known for. In a few short years, they have performed all over the country, sharing the stage with acts like Modest Mouse, Spoon, The Raconteurs and more.

In 2010 the band, consisting of Tony Hello (vocals), Spencer Petersen (guitar, vocals), Aaron Hatch (bass, vocals) and Thomas Carroll (drums), relocated to a warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles. Nicknamed “The Cube,” the band lives, rehearses, and records much of their work here, in true DIY fashion.
