The Hives Announce U.S. Tour Dates This September

June 30, 2012

The Hives  will return to the U.S. this Fall for a West Coast run in support of their lauded new album Lex Hives. Kicking off September 6 in Vancouver, the band will make stops in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas and more. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 29. The September tour will expand on the band’s current U.S. outing, which kicked off last week to a sold-out Washington D.C. crowd and has seen immense praise, with Philadelphia Inquirer proclaiming “The Hives have been single-handedly saving rock and roll,” and the Washington Times stating “The Hives played the audience like a fiddle.” Similarly, MTV praises their “Superhuman capacity for consistent excellency,” and SPIN anoints Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist as “one of the greatest front-men in rock.”

Also launching this week is the band’s exclusive performance for AOL Sessions filmed in front of a live, fan-filled studio audience in New York City. Click HERE to watch a Q&A with the band as well as their session performance featuring new tracks “Go Right Ahead,” “Wait A Minute,” “Come On,” and “1000 Answers,” in addition to old favorites “Hate To Say I Told You So” and “Tick Tick Boom.”

The Hives were selected to take part in this year’s exclusive Adult Swim’s Singles Program, which features free downloads from 12 bands over the course of 12 weeks. This week’s offering is The Hives’ unreleased live version of “Go Right Ahead,” recorded in one take at Benny Andersson’s RMV Studio in Stockholm during the recording of Lex Hives. The band also recently unveiled the official video for “Go Right Ahead,” which you can watch HERE.

The Hives will be featured on the July cover of MAGNET Magazine. Available to preorder now, Magnet proclaims “”Situated halfway between the primordial raunch ‘n’ roll of AC/DC and the primeval roar of the Stooges, Lex Hives brings a bazooka to the proverbial knife fight. Light fuse, run away.” They go on to assert, “Message: The Hives are back in business – the business, that is, of kicking motherfucking ass.”

The band’s newest album Lex Hives is also receiving worldwide praise, with NME declaring “Let it be said that Lex Hives is amazing,” and Q Magazine‘s 4-star review asserting “Lex Hives fizzes with the energy of a debut album, the quintet emphatically back to what they do best.” Likewise, The Independent states, “If Lex Hives has one fault, it’s that it makes you want to switch it off, go straight out and see the Hives live,” and Entertainment Weekly proclaims “The Hives have returned to remind us the Swedes do it better.”

The Hives are Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Chris Dangerous, Dr. Matt Destruction, and Vigilante Carlstroem.
