Brooklyn singer-songwriter Kevin Devine has had a whirlwind of a Fall following the release of his sixth solo album, Between the Concrete & Clouds (September 13th, Favorite Gentlemen / Razor &; Tie). Kevin recently filmed a “Snapshots” segment while down at DeLuna Fest for NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly to be aired this Thursday, November 3rd.
Never afraid to shy away from his political beliefs, Kevin took part in Occupy Boston where he performed in Dewey Square to fellow protestors as well as fans. Watch the video of Kevin performing (watch video below). He played a show later that night at the Royale where Boston Globe / Boston.com compared him to Bob Dylan, saying of his performance, “Like a less abrasive, infinitely more humble Dylan, Devine lets his masterful lyrics speak for him.”
After the wildly successful DeLuna fest, Devine returned to New York for a sold out CMJ show at Highline Ballroom (also the official launch event for MECA/inBloom). Kevin teamed up with Musician’s Energy Conservation Alliance (MECA) to become the first musician to use their new app, inBloom, designed by Andy Ross of OK Go and Eytan Oren. (More info on app available HERE).
Kevin will perform at Looney Tunes in West Babylon, New York this Thursday November 3rd. Devine has also been added to “The Stuffing” lineup, the 2nd annual Thanksgiving celebration put on by Manchester Orchestra and Favorite Gentlemen Recordings. The Stuffing will take place on November 23rd in Atlanta, and will include artists such as Manchester Orchestra, Cage The Elephant, The Dear Hunter, White Denim and more.
In-Studio acoustic videos with Morgan Kibby of M83:
“My collaboration with Kevin at Rob Schnapf’s was an incredibly inspirational music moment for me, and served as a strong reminder of why we collaborate as artists,” said Morgan Kibby of M83.
“Subsequently remixing Kevin’s work was daunting… I had to throw all caution to the wind and commit to giving him something unexpected; he was totally game and I’m thrilled he liked the outcome.”
Known for his acoustic musings Kevin Devine’s latest release, Between the Concrete & Clouds debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Without losing his lyrical density, Kevin explored the technical side of creating structurally more traditional pop songs, evident in the shorter tracks on BTC&C.
